Chimamanda Adichie has a lot to celebrate. Not that the birth of a
child is the same as a plaque. But every award means something to a
writer.
Bailey Prize has declared Chimamanda Adichie
its Best of the Best. Formerly known as Orange Prize, the Bailey prize
recognises the efforts of women whose works have shown remarkable merit.
Matched against nine other novels, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s novel of the Biafran war, Half of a Yellow
Sun, was declared the best winner of the aforementioned women's prize of fiction.
Her book was voted the best by both the public and the judges.
