Do
you desire to give a voice to the thousands of missing people in the world?
Then enter for the 2012 Red Cross-organized creative writing competition.
Each year (30 August), The International Day of the
Disappeared is marked for the commemoration of people who have gone missing in
wars and in situations of armed conflicts. On this day, thousands of families
who still wonder about the whereabouts of their loved ones are remembered.
Oragnisations such as the Red Cross, who are dedicated to restoring contact
between separated family members, are also recognized.
The
guidelines are simple:
The
theme of the message must focus on ‘missing’.
Entries
should be original, previously unpublished and not already accepted for
publishing.
All entries – whether stories, poems
or personal accounts – should be no more than 500 words.
There are two categories:
1. Adult
2. Young (aged 18 or below on 30 August 2012).
Deadline for submission is 30
June 2012.
The winning entries in each category
will receive a £100 Amazon gift voucher.
Two runners-up in each category will receive a £50 Amazon gift voucher.
The
name and address of the entrant should be clearly listed separately from the
entry.
Note that entries that contain references to political or military
information (insults or threats to actual people; discriminatory or abusive
language) will be disqualified.
The
winning entry will be announced on 30th August, 2011.
